Day 15-Tuesday, June 8, 2021 - Hiking the Corfu Trail - Day 3 - Zero Day @ Agios Georgios - 0.0 miles - Sharing our Hotel and Pool

Other People!!  We found other people today!! And, to our dismay, they found us!

We learned in Kindergarten to share, but Kindergarten is a long time ago. Add to that lengthy time span to forget our manners a pandemic that keeps us away from everyone and a vacation during that apocalypse and frankly, we have forgotten how to share. We have become very territorial. We were quite put out when a family of three from England wandered into our pool for the day. We have learned that all the pools we encounter at the various hotel and resorts are really open to the public. It is understood that you should buy something while there, but it is not mandatory. So this cheeky English couple and their 14 month old kid invade our pool, splash our water and violate the silence of our existence-for hours and hours!  How dare they!!

Earlier that morning we went to explore the all inclusive resort at the north end of town. We found a version of what you would find in Cabo, just not nearly as upscale. Pools, game rooms, beach umbrellas, etc. And, people! Lots of them-like a couple hundred spread out across the acres of grounds and beach. We took pictures to prove our point that there are lots of people, but when you look at the photos you realize that most of the chairs in the photos are empty. Like 75-80% are empty. I guess the shock of seeing anybody has us ignoring the reality that there still are not many people. Luckily, our photos tell the truth, there are people, just not as many as we initially think there are.

See all the people back there. Hordes of them.

Today was a zero day. It is the first day we have just sat around and let our bodies catch up. We have been going at it pretty steady for the past two weeks. Today was needed. We did walk around this beach town, went to the beach, the grocery store and sat by the pool for a few hours, but that is pretty much it. The winds were out of the north and quite strong making swimming in the Adriatic a little uncomfortable. We laid on the beach and worked on our tan, but didn’t brave the surf and wind to get wet.

Our hotel opened their outdoor restaurant for the first time this season. We got to be their first and only customers, enjoying a chef salad and a Greek salad. In the evening, we called friends back home.

That pretty much sums up the day. We packed up and got ready for an early start tomorrow.
