May 13, 2023 - Day 13 - In Haro - 0.0 miles - +0’ - -0’

A day with great friends!  We got up about 8:30am. Nerea had to drive Rail to Vitoria, about 40 minutes north for his futbòl practice. Maxi took us to his bar, the same as last night, for breakfast. We had patata tortilla, fresh squeezed orange juice and tea for breakfast there. It was much quieter than last night. Last night-75 people. This morning-us. Maxi gave us a tour of the back of his bar, the kitchen, the walk in freezer and fridge and food storage. We walked back to his house and loaded into his car and drove to the neighboring town of Brione to visit the wine museum.

What a place!!  I cannot imagine the money spent to create this exquisite museum. The museum was created by the Vivanco family. They have way too much money!! They either charge too much for their wine or are a crime family. This museum was spectacular in every respect. The information, the art, the equipment and artifacts displayed, the layout and the sheer size. Tasteful. Thoughtful. Exquisite.

We spent about three hours touring the museum, then visited the town square where a

Celebration of some type was taking place. We headed back to the house and had dinner-again amazing. Any weight I lost in the first days of walking just got put back on!!

We walked a few blocks to meet Nerea’s mother and father, both sweet to the core. We sat in her living room, had a few of her homemade donuts and talked, meaning Raul interpreted for us as he is bilingual (he is enrolled in the English immersion program on his school.

Nerea promised to teach Sally and Becky how to make patata tortillas, which she did from 7:30 to 9:00pm, after which we ate dinner and then went to bed. Well I watch an obligatory 20 minutes of fútbol on TV before I turned in. What a Great day!!
